A single file handout of training materials for the new MeL Arts and Humanities Resources class.


Lakeview High School students enrolled in a blended Information Literacy course (part Blackboard, part face-to-face) have created some user-friendly instructional PowerPoints on how to navigate the MeL databases of CAMIO, NoveList and Health Reference Center Academic.



The Gale Group provides some useful online training materials. The links below could supplement the instruction delivered through the MCLS database classes.


ProQuest provides some online tutorials for SIRS Discoverer that could be useful in some circumstances. (Please note, your audience may have to ignore the commercial aspects in some of these since they are marketing tools for ProQuest).

EBSCO has a 5 minuite video with an overview of the new NoveList interface.


Introducing MeLCat at Lakeview High School Library: A short video introduction to using the state-wide resource sharing network.


Here are some sites that you may want to use with your participants especially students to test their skills when using the Internet. It is a nice warmup and shows value with the MeL databases.

Urban Legends Left side is the "Photo Quiz: Spot the Fakes!" that contains 50 questions.

Museum of Hoaxes Phototest You many want to use this site with older participants since it contains ads by Google.
