MeL For Kids Outline

Class outline (times are approximate)


1. Set up and introductions - approximately 20 minutes

Trainer – introduce yourself

Teach the webex functionality (we will have a separate document for this to refer to for all classes)

Class introduction – find out who is in the class

Review what we will cover – outline of the two days’ content and goals

Ask them to have the printouts that were emailed to them on their desks for reference.


2. SIRS Discoverer Deluxe – demo for 35-40 minutes, then move on. This is the best K9 database we have so it’s

worth a few more minutes

3. eLibrary Elementary – 30-35 minutes

4. NoveList - 20 minutes


break time


5. Kids InfoBits – 30 minutes

6. LearningExpress Library – 15 minutes

7. InfoTrac Junior Edition (mention other PowerSearch databases for kids who are ready for more) – 30 minutes

8. Educator's Reference Complete (Gale) (for teachers/parents) - show and tell – 10 minutes

9. MORE (for teachers/parents) - demo – 10 minutes

10. Wrap up and evalutations
