NetLibrary eBook License
eBooks Michigan, custom collections of electronic books from NetLibrary, has been available to MLC members since July 2000. Collections allow members an opportunity to access eBooks at reduced rates and evaluate their use, to work cooperatively to build and manage a shared eBook collection, and to allow each library access to a larger number of eBook titles than would likely be possible individually. eBooks Michigan is accessible through a custom search page or through individual library catalogs.
eBooks Michigan I contained over 6,400 electronic books in a wide range of subject areas, as well as a collection of books on Law and Political Theory which were purchased with a grant from the Michigan State Bar Foundation.
Collaboration allows MLC members who participate in the shared collection to provide patrons with access to hundreds of titles at a greatly reduced cost with ongoing access to all eBooks for a one-time fee. Content is available 24 hours a day/seven-days a week and can be viewed from any PC connected to the Internet. Patrons and students are able to access the eBooks the same way they currently access your collection. No hardware or software needed, all that is needed is a PC with Internet access.
When you join this shared eBook collection, your library is set up with IP authentication from which all reports will be pulled. Reports as well as marketing ideas are available at NetLibrary's Resource Center. A set of OCLC MARC records is included in the participation price for all titles contained in the shared collection.
For more information on eBooks Michigan collections, please contact MLC.
